1882 Atlantis: The Antediluvian World
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
The first edition of this work.
The work of Minnesota populist politician Ignatius L. Donnelly. The theories Donnelly presented were supported by publications from Helena Blavatsky, Theosophical Society, and by Rudolf Steiner.
Donnelly considered Plato's account of Atlantis to be a factual one, and in this work suggests that all known ancient civilizations were descended from Atlantis through a process of hyperdiffusionism.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, many vignettes, and fourteen plates, with further full page illustrations. Collated, complete.
With the former owner's inscription of G. E. Hoffmann to the front free endpaper head.
Many of Donnelly's theories are the source of modern-day concepts about Atlantis.
