The first edition of this work, rebound with the publisher's original pictorial cloth laid down. Inscription to the half title, dated 1908. Frontispiece shows a map of Hudson's journey. Hudson's lively account of his journey, day-by-day, from Liverpool to America aboard steamship "City of Rome". He travels across to San Francisco and back by railroad. 32 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

Rebound with the publisher's original pictorial cloth laid down. Externally smart, with some fading to the spine and upper extremities, and faint staining to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some spotting to the first and last few pages. Loss to page 1, not affecting the text.
