First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

First edition, published simultaneously with first Canadian edition. Lacking pages one through sixteen. This copy begins after page XV at page seventeen in chapter III. Illustrated throughout. Twain's first attempt at historical fiction, this work is set in 1547 and tells the story of two young boys born on the same day and identical in appearance. Written by Mark Twain, pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, an American humorist, writer, publisher, and lecturer.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Front hinge tender but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Lacking pages one through sixteen.
