The second edition of this work. This work looks at the sport of shooting, written, as the author says, at a time where the mechanics of fire-arms had been drastically improved and changed. The author here guides the reader through important aspects of shooting, such as the description and mechanical aspects of the gunsm like the length of the barrels, the recoil, express rifles, and how one should dress. The author also discusses ammunitions, dogs, and pheasant shooting. Written by James Dalziel Dougall, who also wrote 'Scottish Field Spots', 'The Rifle Simplified', and 'Shooting Simplified'. Binder's label to the rear pastedown, 'W. Bone & Son'.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Evidence of a label being formerly adhered to the front board. Some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A very little loss of cloth to the extremities. Some minor marks to the boards and spine. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with only the very occasional mark.
