'The Prize' was a children's monthly periodical of the nineteenth century. Including the pieces 'A Hospital Blackberry Feast', 'Honest Hans', 'Roger's Slide and What Came of it', 'The Baby's Sermon', 'The Gentile Rulers of Scripture', and more. Including the poems 'A Lesson of Contentment', 'Just Awake', 'Tommy Miller', 'Saying Grace', 'Wild Flowers', and more. Illustrated throughout. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown, 'Ruth Oldman Limewath....New Market...June 20th 1908'. Collated, incomplete, as lacking coloured frontispiece.
Condition
In a full cloth binding. Externally, light marking to the boards, a little heavier to the front board. Small cracks to the front joint. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The odd spot to the fore edge. Front hinge is strained but remains firm. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd mark and spot.
