Description

Very Scarce, Second Impression.

This is a wonderfully presented religious pamphlet by John Saddington, 'an ancient believer', which contains forty-eight articles of Muggletonian scripture. This pamphlet was said to have been originally printed in 1830, with this second impression printing in 1830.

This work is written in the style of a personal credo and was written in order to 'disprove all depisers' by elaborating upon mocked Muggletonian beliefs. These included not acknowledging God, as well as the 'glorious resurrection', or second death, that awaited humans once they died.

John Saddington (1634-1679) was a Muggletonian writer and London merchant. Saddington was one of the original members of the Muggletonian movement, having made friends with John Reeve and Lodowick Muggleton after reading 'A Transcendent Spirituall Treatise'.

Collated, complete.
