1880 Sunshine and Storms in the East, or Cruises to Cyprus and Constantinople
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Leather Binding
The first edition of Annie Brassie's account of her family's voyage in the East aboard their luxury yacht, the Sunbeam.
After returning from their 1876-77 world cruise in Sunbeam, Brassey published a book about their adventure titled 'A Voyage in the Sunbeam, our Home on the Ocean for Eleven Months', which became a best seller. This 1880 volume continues that account, discussing their voyage around Constantinople, Cyprus, and the Ionian Islands.
Illustrated with two colour folding maps, nine engraved plates, and numerous vignette wood engravings, chiefly from A. Y. Bingham. Collated, complete.
With the stamp of the Englefield Working Men's Club to the front free endpaper, and no further stamps.
A smart copy of this thrilling account of a late Victorian era global voyage.
