Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) was a man of many talents and professions, serving as a church priest for the Church of England, university professor, historian, social activist, and author. He is most well known for his works The Water-Babies (1863), Westward, Ho! (1855), Hypatia (1853) and more.
This is the seventh edition of this work.

A previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper of Volume I. Internally, both volumes firmly bound. Pages contain a few spots, more prominent to the first and last few pages, but otherwise pages are bright and clean.
