The Massorah is the collection of information and comment on the text of the Hebrew Bible by the Masoretes, who were groups of Jewish scribe-scholars from the 5th-10th centuries based primarily in Tiberias and Jerusalem. This set comprises of: Volumes I - III, 'The Massorah, Compiled from Manuscripts and Alphabetically and Lexically Arranged'. Complete in three volumes from 1880 - 1885. In both Hebrew and English. Signed by the author to the limitations page. Volume IV, 'The Massorah, Translated into English with a Critical and Exegetical Commentary', 1897-1905. Condition
In the original quarter morocco binding. Externally, a trifle rubbed with shelf wear to the edges and chipping and fraying to the spines. Marks to the boards. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age-toned but generally bright and clean. Some scattered spots towards the front and rear of the books. A few handling marks throughout and the occasional small tear. Author's ink inscription to the limitation pages in volumes I-III and to the rear of the title page in Volume IV.
