What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated
A sammelband bound in paper wraps. A collection of 47 late 19th-century covers used to protect school notebooks in France. The major themes of notebook covers produced between 1880 and 1910 were patriotic subjects, including the history of France, geography (France and the conquest of the colonies), and famous figures who forged France. The majority of the notebook covers in this sammelband display these patriotic and historical themes; the other covers depict illustrations and information about animals and handicrafts.
Condition
In paper wraps. Externally sound, with some sunning and a little creasing to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned, and often inscribed with crayon; many illustrations have been coloured in.
