These stories were very popular, with the volume being reissued and reprinted for dozens editions over the past two centuries. 

Looking at the life of female characters in Shakespeare plays, with disturbing details fitting of the life in Shakespeare's imaginary world. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece and eight plates from pictures by T. F. Dicksee and W. S. Herrick. Collated, complete. 

Condition

In the original publisher's attractive gilt-blocked cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine, as well as a faint darkening of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally bright and clean throughout, with the occasional minor spotting to the leaves, particularly the pages of plates, due to the type of paper used. Illustrated with a frontispiece and eight full plates. Collated, complete.
