The Art of the Perfumery is a volume dedicated to the science of perfumery, giving direction for methods of obtaining the odours of plants, the growth and general flower farm system and of raising fragrant herbs. Piesse explores the theory of odours, flower farming, perfumed soap, pomades and oils and hair-washes. 

George William Septimus Piesse was an English chemist and perfumer, a lead author and innovator of modern perfume ideas having invented the concept of notes in perfumery. 

With illustrations throughout the text and a frontispiece. 

With four pages of publisher adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some fading to the joints and extremities and light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Previous owner inscription to the reverse of the frontispiece. Rear hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
