First edition of Reports on the Carriages in the Paris Exhibition 1878 in the original publisher's cloth binding.
By various artisan reporters, specially selected for the duty by order of the worshipful company of coachmakers and coach-harness makers of London.
Edited and revised by Charles Saunderson. Signed and inscribed by the editor to the title page: 'With the Editor's respects'.
A scarce edition with only eight held in libraries.
Illustrated with a monochrome plate as the frontispiece of a portrait of the editor.
Contents include topics such as 'Coach Body Making' and 'Wheels and Under Carriages'.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, fair. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some slight loss to the head and tail of the spine. There are marks to the boards. There are a few cracks to the joints. The front hinge is starting but firm, and the rear hinge is held by cords only. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot.
