Description

Containing wonderful historical sketches of the city of London, including 'Marriage in Mayfair', 'Annals of St. Paul's, 'At Fabyan's Tomb', 'The Old Roman Bath in the Strand', 'Modern Babylon' and 'A Walk around the Savoy'.

Written by Edward Walford (1823-1897), an editor and writer best known for 'Old and New London', published in 1878. He contributed to the Dictionary of National Biography, and edited the Gentleman's Magazine and The Antiquary.

A first edition.

Complete in two volumes.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Ownership inscriptions to the verso of the front endpaper and the half title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little spotted in places but generally bright and clean.
