'Five Weeks in a Balloon' was Verne's first published novel.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, thirty-three plates, and in-text illustrations by Edouard Riou.

Bookplate of E. H. Visiak to the front pastedown. Visiak was the pseudonym of Edward Harold Physick, an English author known for his critic and authority on John Milton.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards and spine. Light spots to the fore edge. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, two gatherings are detached but present and one gathering is working loose, due to the binding type. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with just a few odd spots.
