Description

Leather Binding

The second edition, with the preface to the first edition. Has been bound without publisher's catalogue. Binder's stamp to rear pastedown indicates a binding at the education society press. This collection of lectures and essays are on many surgical practises including the risks of operations, hernias, nervous mimicry, sexual hypochondriasis, typhoid fever and more. Edited by Howard Marsh. Sir James Paget was an English surgeon and pathologist. He is best remembered for his work on Paget's disease. He is also considered to be one of the founding fathers of scientific medical pathology.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, very smart with patches of light rubbing to the boards. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown, Wellington Gray. Another prior owner's label to verso of front endpaper, John R Kirkup. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Spotting to the endpapers and occasional light spots to pages.
