A brief and detailed history of the Charterhouse School, writing by the former head master William Haig Brown.

Charterhouse is a boarding school in Godalming, considered to be one of the 'great' nine public schools. The school was founded by Thomas Sutton, on the site of an old Carthusian monastery.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, two folding plans, eleven plates, and in-text illustrations.

Collated, complete.

William Haig Brown was a reforming headmaster of Charterhouse.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the spine and extremities. Spine and extremities are a little faded. Light marks to the boards. Author's inscription to the verso to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some odd spots.
