First published in 1846, this work forms a comprehensive study of the wilderness of the Scottish highlands, exploring hunting, trapping and poaching, along with a discussion of the nesting and feeding habits of the local wildlife.
Illustrated throughout with vignette depictions of Scottish wildlife. Illustrated by Harrison Weir, Charles Whymper, A. C. Corbould, A. H. Collins and A. T. Elwes. Engraved on wood by J. W. Whymper.
With the library bookplate of Booth Bird Museum, Brighton, and the bookseller label of Geo. Beal, Brighton.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, very good, with slight rubbing to gilt and extremities. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The odd spot to the fore edge. Bookplate and bookseller label to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, excepting for the first and last pages, which are slightly spotted. Booth library stamp to the frontispiece.
