A delightfully illustrated edition of this 'Waverley Novel' from Sir Walter Scott, in a bright full calf signed prize binding, bound by the Midland Educational Binders.
Set in south west Scotland, the novel follows the period of the Covenanters, featuring their victory at Loudoun Hill - also known as the Battle of Drumclog - and their defeat at Bothwell Bridge, both in June 1679. Illustrated throughout with vignette and full plate illustrations.
With a prize bookplate from Acock's Green Ladies College to the front pastedown, awarding this volume to Florence Harvey in 1888.
In a signed full calf school prize binding, with gilt detailing to back strip. Fading to back strip and board perimeters. Front hinge starting, with board holding firm. Prize bookplate to front pastedown, binder's stamp to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
