What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

Covering all sorts of things, from oysters to pantomimes, and ventriloquism to the Battle of Assizes. With the dates of the history of the world up until the autumn of 1878.

This edition was edited by Benjamin Vincent, the librarian of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Originally written by Irish author Joseph Timothy Haydn, whose reputation rests on the Dictionary of Dates. Posterity has upheld his own assessment of it as far more accurate, informative and well-organized than any of its rivals, and it is still consulted by historians.

The sixteenth edition.

With marbled edges and endpapers.

A fascinating work, detailing the origins and dates from across all of history.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally a trifle rubbed; only half of the spine label is extant, and the spine is rather worn to the raised bands. Extremities are also a little worn. Ownership inscription to the verso of the endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
