Leather Binding, Signed Binding
In a full vellum binding, signed to the front paste down by Modes & Mendel. Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) was an Italian Renaissance Master, who worked as a painter, architect, engineer, writer, and historian. He is best known for writing what is considered to be the first work of art history, his The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects. This small tome contains a selection of biographies of artists, taken from Vasari's famous work The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects. Artists discussed are Giotto, Donatello, Fra Filippo Lippi, Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, among others.
Condition
Externally smart, with a little wear to the upper extremities and to the tail of the spine. Some staining to the boards and the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, except for a little spotting to the first few pages and some tanning to the first and last couple of blank pages.
