Complete two volume set bound in a contemporary half-crushed morocco binding on cloth boards.
Illustrated with one-hundred and twenty-four colour plates, found within Vol II of this work.
This is an informative French reference work which contains information on different types of upholstery. Contents range from 'Agrement- Passementerie', to 'Volant- Facon de bandes d'etoffe plissee, suivant le travail de l'ouvrier'.
Vol I includes the text portion of this work, whereas Vol II contains the colour plates.
Written by Jules -Pierre Deville-Cavellin (1825-1891).
With an illustrated bookplate to the front paste down of both volumes, belonging to Morant & Co, an upholster, cabinet maker, and decorating company that was active from 1851 to 1915.
With the odd institutional stamp to the paste downs and various pages, belonging to the Bolton Public Libraries.
Collated, complete.
Condition
Bound in a contemporary half-crushed morocco binding on cloth boards. Externally, smart. Edge wear and rubbing to the extremities and the spine, particularly along the joints. Institutional stickers adhered to tail of spines. A few marks to boards. Illustrated bookplate to front paste downs as well as an institutional stamp. Internally, firmly bound. Binding to Vol II is loosening towards the middle of text. Pages are very clean throughout, with the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Age-toning to margins of text. The odd institutional stamp throughout the text.
