With titles including: The Merchant Abudah's Adventure in the Valley of Bocchim, The Adventures of Urad; or the Fair Wanderer, and Mirglip, the Persian; or, Fincal, the Dervise of the Groves. Written by James Kenneth Ridley, an English author who served as a chaplain with the British Army, under the pseudonym "Sir Charles Morell" a fictitious British Ambassador in Bombay. Previously held in the library of Sir Charles Wyville Thomson, a Scottish natural historian and marine zoologist who served as the chief scientist on the Challenger expedition. Condition
In the original green cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges. The odd small mark to the boards with light fraying to the board edges from small splits in the cloth. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the title page. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
