The scarce first edition. In the publisher's original, full cloth binding with gilt detail to the spine. Bound by Leighton, Son and Hodge. With a portrait frontispiece and the publisher's advertisements to the rear of volume two. An account of Lord Dufferin's tour through British Columbia in 1876. Frederick Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, more commonly known as Lord Dufferin, was a British public servant and prominent member of Victorian society. He is known for his best-selling travelogues of North America. With a bookplate for 'Sir Alfred Sherlock Gooch' to the front paste-downs.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some shelf wear to the edges and spine. A few light marks to the boards and spines, heavier to the front board of volume two. Bookplate to the paste-downs. Binders label to the rear paste-down of volume one. Some light marks to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age-toned but otherwise bright and clean with the occasional mark.
