What Our Customers Say...

Description

Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First appearing in 1873, this is an early edition of this work, which was commonly reissued in the late nineteenth century.

It was published to demonstrate the role played in the natural world by insects across the globe, as well as to show their beauty and importance.

Written by John George Wood (1827-1889), an English writer, natural historian and reverend. He was well known as a parson-naturalist, giving up his curacy to write works about natural history.

Illustrated with six hundred figures by E. A. Smith, including plates and in-text illustrations.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a little cockled, with wear to the joints and loss to the head and tail of the spine. Extremities are also a little bumped. Internally, binding is strained to the hinges, and a little tender throughout. Pages are just a touch age-worn to the extremities.
