What Our Customers Say...

Description

Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

First published in 1864, this copy is billed as the forty-seventh thousand to the head of the front wrap, and the fiftieth thousand to the title page.

Arranged in seven chapters, Mrs. Warren discusses matters including debt and expenditure; house-hunting; punctuality; how to keep butter and water cool, and 'the art of dressing in good taste'.

In this work, Warren uses the conceit of the character of an experienced housekeeper giving advice to a novice one to relay her information. This followed a popular dialogue format of the evangelical literature of the period.

With advertisements to the front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns, and to the rear board.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Losses of paper to back strip, with discolouration and handling marks to wraps. Rear joint starting to head and tail, with wrap firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, but firmly held.
