Hugh Reginald Haweis was an English cleric and writer. He had unconventional methods of conducting his services which attracted crowded congregations. He and his wife contributed largely to periodical literature and travelled a lot. Haweis' Current Coin is a collection of essays on several social and religious matters such as Louis XIV and the Idol of Orthodoxy, The revival of the Devil, Modern Science on God, Cumulative Punishment and Class against Class.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with gilt stamping to the spine. Externally, smart with rubbing to the spine, particularly to the gilt stamping. Some light rubbing to the joints also. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Library plates to the front pastedown with Cambridge Union Society institutional stamp to the title page and final page. Internally, firmly bound. Scattered spots throughout.
