Description

Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

This is a fascinating insight into the operations and opinions of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The RSPCA was founded in 1824, making it the oldest animal welfare organisation in existence. It was given Royal status by Queen Victoria, who was the societies patron. Their focus early on was on bringing offenders of animal cruelty to justice.

The same year as this work was published, the Cruelty to Animals Act was passed in order to control experiments performed on animals.

Contains a folding chart at the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, some slight bumping to edges and extremities. Internally generally firmly bound, front hinge is straining but remains firm. Pages are generally bright and clean with the occasional spot.
