Undated as is consistent with the 1876 first edition. Complete with seven maps and vignettes in the text. Frederick Smeeton Williams was an English minister best known for his works on the history of UK railways. The Midland Railway was the third largest railway undertaking in the British Isles, established 1844.
Condition
In a red cloth binding. Externally, sound with heavy rubbing and staining to boards. Spine browned with splitting to the cloth at the head. Both hinges tender. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places, with map at page 560 loosening. Pages bright and generally clean with age toning to all page edges and occasional light spotting. Ink signature to title page.
