What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

The sixth edition of this particular work. Smartly bound in a full calf binding for the Oxford Military College. With a prize inscription to the recto of front endpaper indicating that this book was a prize for mathematics (dated 1878). With a frontispiece and twenty-four in-text illustrations, all drawn and engraved under direction of Tyndall. John Tyndall gained scientific fame from his study of diamagnetism. He was a pioneer in the fields of infrared radiation and proved the connection between atmospheric CO2 and what is now known as the Greenhouse Effect. These discoveries were as early as 1859. Tyndall's bibliography was extensive, and this is one of many educational scientific works he wrote. He brought experimental physics to a much wider audience. This edition has a few revisions since the original publication of the work. To this title Tyndall provides the reader with scientific information on the various forms of water, its sources and much more. This work was one of a much wider series titled 'The International Scientific Series' of which this was the first volume. A smart, informative work on nineteenth century scientific theory.
