What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

The very scarce volume XXX of architectural periodical 'The Building News and Engineering Journal', with this volume covering each issue published between January and June, 1876.

Founded in 1854, this publication was published under several titles during its history, appearing under this name from 1863 onwards, until 1926 when it was merged with 'The Architect', forming 'The Architect and Building News'.

These issues are illustrated throughout, featuring attractive engravings of building facades and interiors, and a wealth of impressively detailed technical diagrams and architectural plans.

With one hundred and twenty seven plates, many of which are double page, and two folding plates.

Amongst the fascinating architectural locations discussed and illustrated with plates of architectural plans are a proposed restorations of Manchester cathedral, plans for South Kensington's New Science School, a proposal for an oratory, and numerous plans for villas submitted to a competition by architecture students.

While there are library markings to the back strip head, no further library indicators are present.
