The first edition of this work.

A look into Robert Moffat's work as a missionary in South Africa throughout the nineteenth century.

Moffat was a well known Scottish Congregationalist missionary, and the father-in-law of David Livingstone.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, twenty plates, and in-text illustrations.

Collated, complete.

Front board states that this is a presentation copy from the London Missionary Society.

Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Presented to Elizabeth Louden, for collecting on behalf of the London Missionary Society, James Chadburn, 19 April 1876'.

One page of publishers' adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with just a few light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light spots to the fore edge. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just a couple odd light marks.
