Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

In an attractive decorative cloth binding, this particular work features a series of short stories and tales in relation to the county of Warwickshire. Written by J. Tom Burgess, the author and journalist of the 19th century, this work features 9 full page illustrations and several additional vignettes throughout. Separated into two sections: Legends and Traditions (with 14 stories); Romantic and Historic Episodes (with 28 stories). With the previous owners ink inscription to the front endpaper that rears 'George Edward Gee. Coventry', and small sticker to the head of the front pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in small splits to the cloth. Fading to the spine, with patches of rubbing the gilt. Dampstainig to the front pastedown and endpapers, with patches of rubbed. Ink inscription to the front endpaper, with a small label to the head of the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean.
