What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
Written by artist Philip Gilbert Hamerton, this attractive edition of Etching and Etchers provides practical guidance, as well as a survey of the art form and its key proponents. Includes twelve plates by the author, collated and complete. Hamerton was an advocate of contemporary printmaking, and he established and edited a monthly periodical called The Portfolio which championed etching in particular. In this New Edition of Etching and Etchers, Hamerton reviews the Dutch, French, and English schools of etching, discusses the specific qualities of the form, and offers some practical advice to amateur etchers. With a few pencil markings to the front endpapers. Small sticker to the rear pastedown reading 'Bound by Burn & Co'.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Rubbed to the front board, less to rear and spine. A little bumped to the head of the spine, with a little fraying of the cloth at the tail. Marginal wear to the extremities. Front and rear hinges starting but firm.
