A scarce first edition of this account of Arctic Exploration. In the original Dutch. With a full colour folding map to the rear. Laurens Reinhart Koolemans Beynen was a Dutch naval officer and Arctic explorer who took part in the Arctic voyage of the Pandora in 1875, an attempt to reach the magnetic pole in Baffin Bay and LAncaster Sound, and to navigate the North West Passage inn one season.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, worn with loss to backstrip and splitting to spine. Handling marks and chipping to wraps. Internally, binding tender in places with early pages loosening from main text block. Pages bright and clean with occasional handling marks. Folding map clean and bright.
