With colour plate frontispiece and all 12 full plate engravings. With nearly 400 illustrations throughout. Collated, complete.
The first edition of this work appeared in 1848. Subtitled 'Annals of the House of Hanover', this edition compiles caricatures sourced from 'squibs, broadsides, window pictures' and lampoons from the time.
Written by Thomas Wright (1810-1877), English antiquarian and writer.
Condition
In publisher's full cloth binding. Externally bright, with only minor shelfwear to head and tail of spine. Binder's label to rear pastedown, 'W. Bone & Son'. Light spotting to fore edge, rarely affecting pages. Front free endpaper is detached but present. The hinges are weak, although the joints remain firm. Main text block is generally firmly bound, but loosening in places. Light spots to first and last few pages, including frontispiece.
