Description
Fine Binding, Illustrated
Charles Albert d'Arnoux, who used the pseudonym Bertall, 1820 – 1882, was a French illustrator, cartoonist and writer. He is known for being one of the most prolific illustrators of the nineteenth century and one of the pioneers of photography. Bertall illustrated works by Balzac, Dumas, Cooper and Perrault, amongst many others.
Condition
In quarter calf bindings. Externally, very smart with just some mild bumping and rubbing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just some occasional spotting, heavier to the first and last few pages. Bookplate to front pastedown and ink signature to the from blank. Ink stamp of Chez Soi to front blank.
