Charlotte M. Yonge’s compelling story set in Austria in the 15th century details the struggles of the saintly heroine Christina and her twin sons. The theme of the novel centres around overcoming evil with good.

An English novelist, Yonge wrote in the service of the church and published around 160 works. Her work is now mostly out of print. Yonge is known chiefly for her first commercial success ‘The Heir of Redclyffe’.

Condition

In the publisher’s original cloth binding, with gilt title to the spine. Decorative gilt strips to the front board and spine. Externally, generally s,art. Some markings to the boards and spine and slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to to the extremities. Hinges are starting. Internally, firmly bound. Some very light spotting to pages and minor ink spotting to pages 8 and 9 (viii and ix). Otherwise pages are bright and clean. Note from previous owner in ink on title page.
