A charming volume containing fifteen plates reproducing natural landscapes and sceneries. All the illustrations are in chromo-lithograhy after original watercolour drawings. 

With an introduction on colour, paper, and brushes. Each illustration is accompanied on a description of the place. 

Aaron Penley describes how to sketch and paint from nature throughout the book. He wrote chapters on Loch Lomond, Glenfinlas, Grasmere from te Keswick Road, Cumberland, and many other places. 

Collated, complete with fourteen coloured plates and one plate in monochrome.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally smart with slight shelf wear and edge wear, as well as a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. With various minor painting marks to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. With a scattered spotting to the pages, particularly to the first and last few leaves. Collated, complete with fourteen coloured plates and one in black and white.
