In this scarce work by Frederick William Pavy, the physician and physiologist discusses food in scientific detail, along with its preservation, and the principles and practicalities of certain diets. Pavy was a leading expert in diabetes, and was especially interested in dietetic treatments for the condition. Pavy was President of the Pathological Society of London in 1893,and President of the Medical and Chirurgical Society of London in 1900. Dedication page untrimmed.
Condition
In a maroon blind stamped cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards with some small indentations to the front board. Bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a couple of small tears to the cloth at the head, and some minor wear to the extremities. Both front and rear hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Lightly foxed to the first and last few pages, but otherwise pages generally clean and bright.
