    Leather Binding

    The Month was a long-running monthly periodical which was in print for 139 years from 1864-2001. For the majority of its history the publication was owned by the English Province of the Society of Jesuits. 1874 was the year that the Catholic Review was incorporated to this magazine which is why the volumes are numbered I, II and III with their actual issue numbers in brackets as the publication had been running for ten years. Volume I is January to April, volume II May-August and volume III September-December. Collated, complete. All three of these volumes were edited by The Month's first jesuit editor, Henry James Coleridge. Coleridge was responsible for incorporating articles and other contributions from leading figures in English Catholicism such as John Henry Newman. The Month incorporates history, poetry, fiction, biography as well as works of devotion.

    Condition

    In half morocco bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with rubbing to the paper covered boards and to the extremities. The joints are rubbed as well as the heads and tails of spines to all volumes. some small cracks to spines also. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with first and last few pages spotted with the odd spot throughout.
