A lovely set of these early editions of collections of works by Alfred Lord Tennyson in uniform full dark blue morocco bindings.
This three volume set includes:
The Works of Alfred Tennyson, four volumes bound as two, comprising of Volumes I and II 'Early Poems' and Volumes III and IV 'Locksley Hall, and Other Poems', published in 1874. These works have a monochrome plate as the frontispiece respectively. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the first pastedowns.
Ballads and Other Poems, published in 1880. Prior owner's contemporary ink inscription to the first free endpaper from 1880.
With gilt to the boards and spines.
Condition
In full morocco bindings. Externally, very smart. There is some slight bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. Prior ink inscriptions to the pastedowns and first free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean, with some spotting to the endpapers of 'Ballads'.
