This is an extensive and fascinating account of William H. Seward's Travels Around the World, starting off in the United States and travelling to Japan and China, India, Egypt and Palestine and on to Europe.
William Henry Seward was an American politician who served as United States Secretary of State from 1861-1869, he was a determined opponent of the spread of slavery and was a prominent figure in the formative years of the Republican Party.
The volume is extensively illustrated throughout the text.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with some fading to the spine and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A previous owner inscription to the page after the front free endpaper dated 1877. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
