Published by the Royal Geological Society following the interest in and popularity of the letters of explorer David Livingstone. He wrote extensively on his travels to Cazembe and neighbouring regions of central Africa.
Containing the original folding map to the front, as called for.
This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities along with some fading to the spine. A mark to the bottom left corner of the front board. A condition report sticker to the front pastedown. Internally, front hinge is starting but firm. Rear free-endpaper is partially adhered to the rear pastedown, resulting in a small tear to the rear free-endpaper. A small closed tear to the folding map. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots to the pages, but they are otherwise generally bright and clean.
