This is a French translation of 'Memoirs of a Hunter', translated into French by Ernest Charriere. Ivan Turgenev (1818-1883) was a Russian novelist and short story writer, credited with distributing and popularising Russian literature in Europe; his most acclaimed novel was 'Fathers and Sons'. This collection of short stories was extremely popular in France, with the first edition selling out within six months in 1852. Originally published under the title 'Memoires d'un Seigneur Russe' ('Memoirs of a Russian Lord')before being changed to 'Memoires d'un Chasseur', translation 'Memoirs of a Hunter': this edition has the original title.

In a lovely quarter calf binding with marbled boards.

Condition

In a quarter calf binding. Externally generally smart, some bumping to the extremities, very minor chipping to the head of vol I. Internally firmly bound, minor spotting to the pages at the beginning and end, but otherwise bright and clean.
