The c1960 edition is scarce facsimile of this work. Undated, dated from Jisc from other works published by the author. Part of Skelt's 'Juvenile Drama' series.
'Bombastes Furioso' is a burlesque opera, which was very popular when first performed. The play was first produced at the Haymarket Theatre on the 7th August 1810.
1873 edition illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette to the title page, and five plates.
c1960 reprint illustrated with a vignette to the front wrap and title page, a frontispiece, four full-paged plates, and one in-text illustation.
Written by William Barnes Rhodes, an English author, who is best known for this opera.
Illustrated by the popular author George Cruikshank.
1873 edition from the library of the puppet theatre master John M. Blundall, with his label and blind stamp to the front endpaper.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, and the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, the 1873 edition is generally smart, the c1960 edition is smart. Some rubbing and marks to the boards and spine, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges of the 1873 edition are strained. A little discolouration and some minor marks to the wraps. Internally, the 1873 edition is generally firmly bound, and the c1960 edition is firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
