What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

Fourth edition, in original publisher's blue cloth binding.

This is a very scarce edition of A Glimpse of the Great Secret Society, by various unstated authors, about and against Jesuits.

The Society of Jesuits is a religious order of the Catholic Church originating in Rome. After a long period of suppression in the late eighteenth century by many European powers there came a restoration period in the nineteenth century. This saw tremendous growth and influence. In this era, some members became Ultramontanist.

Contents of the book include Despotic nature of the Jesuit and Papal systems and Jesuit influence on the Franco-German War. This potentially xenophobic record highlights tensions within Christianity at this time in Europe.

Condition

In original publisher's cloth binding. Some bumping to the head and tail of the spine resulting in some wear. Minor bumping to the extremities. The back board is slightly marked. The hinges are starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the exception of the occasional spot, there is more spotting to the endpapers.
