First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
The vanishingly scarce first edition of this work.
Consisting of four short stories: Lord Byron in Love, Sunshine through the Clouds, A Blow in the Dark, and Why Uncle Harry Was a Bachelor.
The first work is a short tale about Lord Byron's interactions with the characters Mr. Lyttleton Page, and Mrs. Darlington.
Undated; dated 1872 via the British Library.
With three advertisement leaves to the rear, and one advertisement leaf to the start of the work.
With the stamp of Nottingham Public Libraries to the title page, and their blind stamp to the front wrap and first advertisement leaf.
A very scarce volume, possibly the only publication by the author.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper wraps. Wraps detached but present. Significant losses to paper of back strip. Wraps and back strip age toned, with light handling marks. Blind stamp to front wrap fore edge. First two leaves - including title page - detached and loosely inserted, as are the final two leaves, which are advertisements. Otherwise, internally somewhat tenderly bound. Pages clean and bright, but with library markings to title page recto and verso, and to final page.
