First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, three colour plates, and the odd in-text image. Collated complete. Recollections of the author's time spent on the River Spey, Scotland, during Autumn. With chapters on an incident during a Roedeer drive, Spey flies, deer forests, flooding, birds, and more. Written by Arthur Edward Knox, a British sportsman, amateur naturalist, author, and one of the founders of the British Ornithological Union. Illustrated by Joseph Wolf, a German artist who specialized in natural history illustration.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding with gilt. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Booth Bird Museum Brighton bookplate to the front pastedown with their ink stamp to the front endpaper and the plates.
