What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

An uncommon first edition of this work.

Illustrated, with a frontispiece, three maps and numerous wood engravings.

Collated, complete.

With chapters on earthquakes, volcanoes, gas springs, landslips and caves, Dr George Hartwig gives a general view of all things subterranean. His aim for this work was to 'describe the wonders of this hidden world in their various relations to man, now raising him to wealth, and now dooming him to destruction' (Preface).

A lovely example of this work.
